Seasons 1-8 are when shippers place bids on two shipments that are listed on the uShip website. This is an auction reverse type of format. Bids are typically made with specific remarks on the risk and cost and also the motivations and potential capabilities. The job is typically awarded to the bidder with the lowest bid at the time that the auction closes. However, at the discretion of the buyer the auction may be offered to a bidder who has received a higher rating in feedback from previous clients. To break any ties feedback ratings are employed. In the season 9 finale, the shippers collect their loads from a shipping broker, and the bidding process isn't shown.Winners take their cargo to the port and attempt to get it delivered in a timely manner to the client or the receiver by the deadline. After the cargo has been delivered, feedback ratings are displayed from clients. The total revenue for each shipper and expenses (fuel, labor and late-delivery penalties) are displayed on screen at the conclusion. To determine the profits or loss the bid amount is subtracted. Sometimes, the shipper will plan to transport additional loads on the same trip. The money is added to the total. The shipper might not be able finish the job because of safety concerns or load size. Sometimes, one shipper may hire the help of another shipper in order to complete a job. The shippers then determine how they will split profits. The progress of each shipment is delayed by hilarious criticisms from other shippers in seasons 1-8.
