Her parents are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. The father of the family is an engineer while her mother works as an agent. Walker has completed her studies through Germantown Friends School. Germantown Friends School (Germantown Region) in Philadelphia, graduating in 1994. Then she attended Harvard College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. Welker was married John Hughes in Philadelphia, who was an acclaimed marketing director.
